​Medical Opportunities:

We have several exciting opportunities lined up for this semester. Many of these opportunities will offer free transportation starting this semester (more details coming soon!)

 

Puentes de Salud:

 

• Spanish-speaking primary care clinic (~20 min via Septa bus) - interest form here. 

• Addtionally, the Puentes Certificate Program is accepting applications, which are due on September 15th. Please contact volunteer@puentesdesalud.org with any questions.

 

Unity Clinic: 

 

• Spanish-speaking primary care clinic at A.D.R.O.P. Church in South Philly that requires availability for once a week (Tuesdays 5 - 8 pm). We are currently working to make a weekly sign-up and may be able to provide free transportation (~20 min via Uber or ~40 min via Septa train lines). Fill out this form if you are interested.  

 

Medical Mandarin at Penn Medicine: 

 

• Exciting opportunity for Mandarin-speaking volunteers to help Penn medical students practice their Mandarin in patient encounters as part of the Medical Mandarin elective at the Perelman School of Medicine. Sessions are on Mondays from 4-5 pm, starting 9/30. If you are interested, please sign up here.

 

CommunityHealth Clinic: 

 

• Free volunteer-based clinics in Chicago. Virtual Spanish and Polish interpreting with shifts from 9a-1p, 1:30p-5p, and 5p-8p (depending on the day). To be eligible, sign-up for an info session and complete their online exam and training.

 

Penn KDSAP:

 

• Penn Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program is a student organization that hosts kidney disease screening events around Philadelphia with opportunities for our very own members to serve as interpreters for patients (transportation provided). Please keep an eye out for emails regarding interpreter needs for these monthly events!

 

Word for Word Medical Humanities Journal:

 

• Word for Word, Penn's undergraduate medical humanities journal, is seeking passionate individuals to contribute to meaningful discussions on medical and healthcare accessibility. The journal conducts interviews with patients, doctors, and individuals impacted by medical issues, and shares their compelling stories. They also publish articles that explore the intersection of medicine and humanities through various art forms. There will be opportunities for bilingual interviewers, as well as roles for medical humanities writers, editors, graphic designers, and a financial chair. If you are passionate about amplifying unheard voices and contributing to meaningful discourse, apply now!

 

Esperanza Health Center: 

 

• Esperanza Health Center is seeking Spanish-speaking volunteers to support its mission of providing affordable, compassionate healthcare across three clinics in North Philadelphia. Opportunities are available at their three clinics, with schedules and responsibilities varying by position. A sign-up form will be sent out in the coming weeks! 

 

CHOP Interpreting Employment:

HIAS Pennsylvania Haitian Creole Opportunity:

 

• The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society-Pennsylvania is looking for Haitian Creole-speaking volunteers to help provide legal and social services to refugees and asylum seekers in the Philadelphia area. Volunteer opportunities include document translation, virtual interpretation, or in-person assistance at their legal clinic.
